Three days of Höfefest in the vintners' courtyards of Kinheim and Kindel
The concept of the Höfefest deliberately differs from the classic wine festival with a central festival stage. Instead of a single festival mile, the entire village becomes the festival backdrop: each vintner's courtyard opens its gates and sets up a tasting station in its own inner courtyard, barn, or wine cellar. Visitors stroll from courtyard to courtyard, get to know the families behind the labels, and discover the full stylistic diversity of the Kinheim winegrowers.
The municipality of Kinheim consists of the two districts Kinheim and Kindel, separated by the Mosel river and connected by viticulture for centuries. The slopes above the river, with the "Kinheimer Rosenberg" and "Kindeler Hubertuslay," are home to some well-known vineyards where Riesling, Spätburgunder, and Müller-Thurgau primarily thrive. The Weinsommer makes this diversity tangible.
The Höfefest spans three days. Friday evening marks a quiet start with initial courtyard tastings, on Saturday the Weinsommer unfolds in its full breadth with all participating courtyards, and Sunday concludes in a relaxed manner with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) and family atmosphere. Seating is distributed between the courtyards, making strolling an independent experience.
Each courtyard offers its own dishes: Flammkuchen, Winzervesper (vintner's snack), cheese platters, Reibekuchen (potato pancakes), regional sausages, or specialties like Moselsalmen (Mosel salmon). The combination of wine and suitable culinary offerings makes the Weinsommer a gastronomic tour through the village.
The Kinheimer Weinsommer is organized by the vintner families of the twin community Kinheim-Kindel in cooperation with the local municipality. The festival is part of the summer festival chain of the Middle Mosel and takes place at the same time as other Mosel festivals, allowing many visitors to combine their stay with other events.
The exact program for 2026 with participating courtyards and musical acts will be published by the organizers in advance. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
