A Children's Day on the Elbe Dike
Seestermühe is located in the Haseldorfer Marsch, a flat marshland on the southern bank of the Pinnau between Hamburg and Elmshorn. For centuries, the Kronsnest ferry has connected the two banks of the Krückau and is today a small, charming tourist destination on the Lower Elbe. Once a year — on May 24, 2026 — the municipality of Seestermühe hosts its Children's Day here, a day when the little ones are the focus.
Family Festival with Dike Flair
On the spacious grounds around the Kronsnest ferry landing, play stations, craft stands, and snack offerings are set up. You can spend the day here with the children in the marshland, visit the ferry, and with luck, even take a short trip on the Krückau — the exact program is organized each year by the municipality of Seestermühe and local clubs.
Haseldorfer Marsch and Pinneberg District
The region between the Pinnau and the Elbe is a hidden gem for nature lovers: bird sanctuaries, vast meadows, small farms, and Viking finds characterize the landscape. The Children's Day at Kronsnest Ferry is a typical example of what makes the municipalities in the Pinneberg district special — events with local character, connected to the landscape and the history of the place.
