A City Square for Children

The Exerzierplatz — affectionately called Exe by the people of Pirmasens — is the central large square in the city center. With its size and location, it is the natural venue for the major events of the "shoe city." Once a year, the square belongs entirely to the children: during the Children's Play Day, the entire area is transformed into a giant play space where numerous actors present their offerings.

Clubs, Institutions, Organizations

The diversity of activities arises from broad participation. Sports clubs, cultural initiatives, social institutions, educational providers, church groups, and youth associations bring their own stations. From climbing frames to craft activities, ball games, and knowledge quizzes, everything is represented. Six Hours of Play Fun

The Exe is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. During these six hours, children can visit multiple stations and let off steam as they please. The time structure is generous — no one has to be there at a specific time; everyone can come and go according to their individual desires and energy levels.

Family-Friendly Date

The Children's Play Day is a classic family outing: parents bring their children to the Exe, meet acquaintances, watch the activities, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. However, the children, to whom the day belongs and who populate the stations, are the real stars.
