Two-week cultural festival for children and young people in the Schwäbisch Hall district
The Crailsheim Children's and Youth Culture Week is one of the most established cultural formats for young audiences in Hohenlohe and the Schwäbisch Hall district. It is organized jointly by the City of Crailsheim and the Volkshochschule Crailsheim. In 2026, the program runs from Monday, March 23, to Saturday, April 4 – two full weeks around the Easter holidays, during which children and young people from Crailsheim and the surrounding area can immerse themselves in a wide variety of cultural formats.
The program is divided into several genres: Music (concerts for children, hands-on workshops, young bands), Film (children's film series, discussion formats), Theater (professional productions and school theater), Workshops (creative, movement, media, and science formats), Readings (author encounters, reading hours), and Presentations / Information Events. The Volkshochschule, schools, clubs, and independent organizers jointly shape the program.
The Culture Week is explicitly inclusive: children and young people with special needs are expressly welcome. Where venues are not fully accessible, the organizers work with local support services to arrange practical solutions. Registration is online via the VHS website starting Monday, February 23, 2026, at 8:00 AM; the registration deadline is Monday, March 16, 2026. Each child must be registered individually – not one registration per family.
Crailsheim, with around 35,000 inhabitants, is a central town in the Schwäbisch Hall district, on the border with the Hohenlohe district and Bavarian Middle Franconia. In recent years, the city has established itself as a center for modern cultural work – the Children's and Youth Culture Week is part of this policy. In the state of Baden-Württemberg, this format is one of the few extended cultural weeks specifically aimed at young audiences with over 100 individual events.
The 2026 edition spans two weeks – the Easter holiday period is only part of it. The overall program includes well over 100 individual events, sorted by age group, available on the VHS Crailsheim website. Offerings include concerts for children, theater productions, film series, creative workshops, movement and sports activities, STEM events, readings with children's book authors, and more.
The organizers are the City of Crailsheim and the Volkshochschule Crailsheim. Schools, clubs, independent organizers, and individual artists from the Hohenlohe region and the Schwäbisch Hall district contribute. Children and young people from the entire region are invited; on average, over 1,000 people participate.
Prices per event. Many activities are free, others for a small fee. Workshops with material costs are slightly more expensive. A detailed program booklet with prices will be published for registration in early 2026.
Crailsheim is accessible via the A 6 (Crailsheim exit) and via the Tauberbahn / Hohenlohebahn (Crailsheim station). Within the city, the venues are easily reachable by bus or on foot.
