One of Mannheim's largest district fairs: tradition, amusement rides, and a festival tent in the north of the city.
The Kerwe Sandhofen is the annual church fair of the northern Mannheim district of Sandhofen—one of the largest and oldest district festivals in the city. It is traditionally held at the end of August around the 'Am Stich' festival grounds on Kattowitzer Zeile and is hosted by the Kerweverein Mannheim-Sandhofen e.V.
The fair features an amusement park with rides, a festival tent with live music from regional bands, and stalls run by local Sandhofen clubs serving bratwurst, regional specialties, and beer. Confectionery stands offering roasted almonds and gingerbread hearts complete the experience. The festival traditionally kicks off with a ceremonial keg tapping.
Sandhofen is located in the north of Mannheim, right on the border with Lampertheim and Heddesheim. With around 13,000 residents, it is one of the city's larger district centers and maintains a distinct identity, complete with a vibrant club scene, a dedicated fair association, and a festival culture that intentionally sets itself apart from Mannheim's city center. Located in the state of Baden-Württemberg, within the Mannheim district at the gateway to the Kurpfalz region, the Kerwe Sandhofen is a key highlight in the local festival calendar.
The Kerweverein Mannheim-Sandhofen e.V. is hosting the 2026 Kerwe Sandhofen from August 22 to 25 (the penultimate full weekend of August) at the 'Am Stich' fairground. For four days, the event will feature an amusement park, a marquee with live music, and stalls run by local Sandhofen associations.
The specific daily program for 2026 has not yet been released. It will be announced on kerwe-sandhofen.de/programm prior to the start of the festival.
