Kerwe 2026 in Obermohr – traditional four-day Kirchweih in the municipality of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau at the end of July.
The Kerwe Obermohr is the traditional Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Obermohr district in the municipality of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau. From July 24th to 27th, 2026, the village in the Westrich region will celebrate its four-day Kerwe – a central date in the community's annual calendar.
Obermohr is located in the Westrich, that region of West Palatinate between Landstuhl, Bruchmühlbach, and the Saarland border. The area is characterized by forests, small valleys, and a long tradition of communal independence. Like many villages in the surrounding area, Obermohr maintains its identity through active club life and traditions, with the annual Kerwe at its forefront.
The Obermohr Kerwe is celebrated over four days – Friday to Monday. This longer duration is not unusual in the Westrich and gives the clubs and associations time to unfold their programs: dance evenings, 'Frühschoppen' (morning pint gatherings), lunch, family events, and the traditional Kerwe parade.
The schedule follows the classic Palatinate Kerwe rhythm: opening on Friday evening with a keg tapping ceremony, dance evenings on the weekend with live music or a DJ, 'Frühschoppen' on Sunday morning with brass music, Kerwe parade on Sunday afternoon, family day on Monday with reduced prices, and the 'Kerwebeerdigung' (Kerwe burial) late in the evening.
The sports club, fire department, and other local associations are responsible for the catering. Palatinate classics – Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst (fried sausage), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Schwenkbraten (pan-fried pork neck) – are on the menu; draft beer and Palatinate wine accompany the festival weekend. On Sunday afternoon, coffee and cake from the club kitchens are also served.
For the residents of Obermohr, the Kerwe is the social highlight of the year. Former residents return, families plan reunions, and the festival fosters intergenerational connection.
The 2026 Obermohr Kerwe continues the annual tradition. Four days of festivities bring the Westrich club life to life in the small community's festival grounds.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in early summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
