76th Schützenfest in the Samtgemeinde Isenbüttel with tent disco and grand parade
The Ribbesbüttel Shooting Society has been dedicated to preserving the shooting tradition in the district for decades with great commitment and an active club structure. Active shooters, a ladies' section, a youth group, and close cooperation with the neighbouring community of Vollbüttel ensure a stable foundation for the club. The annual Schützenfest is the highlight of the club's year and attracts visitors from the entire Samtgemeinde Isenbüttel and the Gifhorn district.
Ribbesbüttel is located in the south of the Gifhorn district, about ten kilometres west of the district town of Gifhorn, and is part of the Samtgemeinde Isenbüttel. Its location between the Mittelland Canal, the Aller river, and the extensive forests of the Boldecker Land shapes its rural character. The village is also known for Ribbesbüttel Castle, a 16th-century monument.
A special feature of the festival is the musical accompaniment by the Müden-Dieckhorst fife and drum corps, which shapes the grand parade on Sunday with its marches and pipe sounds. The two neighbouring villages of Müden (Aller) and Dieckhorst have jointly fielded musicians for decades, who are valued in the region for their performances at Schützenfeste.
Schützenfeste hold a high status in the Samtgemeinde Isenbüttel. They foster identity, serve as a meeting point for multiple generations, and provide an occasion for preserving the traditional culture of Lower Saxony. The parade traditionally attracts several hundred spectators who line the decorated streets.
In 2026, the Ribbesbüttel Shooting Society celebrates its 76th Schützenfest, seamlessly following the major anniversary celebration in 2025. The concept has proven successful: Friday evening is dedicated to the tent disco with a DJ and show programme, on Saturday the focus shifts to the social centre with the proclamation of the king and a dance evening, and on Sunday the parade dominates the proceedings.
The Müden-Dieckhorst fife and drum corps has been an integral part of the parade for decades. Friendly shooting clubs from the Samtgemeinde march along, creating an impressive display of decorated uniforms and flags. The festive conclusion is the King's Banquet in the festival tent with honours for deserving members.
