Kerwe 2026 in Mittelbrunn – traditional four-day Palatinate Kirchweih in the VG Landstuhl in early September.
The Kerwe Mittelbrunn is the traditional Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Palatinate village of Mittelbrunn in the Verbandsgemeinde Landstuhl, Kaiserslautern district. From September 4th to 7th, 2026, the four-day Kerwe will be celebrated – a central date in the annual calendar of the West Palatinate community.
Mittelbrunn is located in the Verbandsgemeinde Landstuhl in the Kaiserslautern district, in close proximity to the Sickingen town and the Ramstein Air Base. The small community maintains its own identity and is part of a region shaped by both traditional Palatinate village culture and German-American encounters.
The Mittelbrunn Kerwe is celebrated over four days, from Friday to Monday. This longer format is characteristic of the Westrich region and allows for dance evenings, Frühschoppen (morning pint), lunch, family activities, and a Kerwe parade.
As in every Palatinate village, the Kerweborsch (Kerwe lads), Kerweparrer (Kerwe pastor), and Kerwestrauß (Kerwe bouquet) characterize the festival. The humorous and satirical Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) on Sunday afternoon addresses village events, local anecdotes, and political happenings of the year.
The local clubs – sports club, fire department, and others – provide the festival tent, bar, and catering. The menu features Palatinate classics: Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst (fried sausage), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck), and fries. Draft beer and Palatinate wine accompany the festival weekend. On Sunday afternoon, the women of the parish serve coffee and homemade cake.
For the residents of Mittelbrunn, the Kerwe is the social highlight of the year. Former residents return, families plan reunions, and the festival fosters community spirit among the clubs.
The 2026 Mittelbrunn Kerwe continues the annual tradition. For four days, the festival shapes the festival grounds of this West Palatinate community at the transition from summer to autumn.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
