Spring festival in Freinsheim with vintage presentation of Freinsheim vintners as part of the Palatinate Almond Weeks
Freinsheim – the town with the completely preserved medieval city wall – is one of the special jewels of the northern Mittelhaardt. In spring, when the almond trees along the Wine Route bloom in delicate pink hues and the first warm sunny days herald the Palatinate spring, the town opens its festival season with the Blossom Festival and the vintage presentation of Freinsheim's vintners.
The centerpiece of the festival is the presentation of the Freinsheim vintage wines. Members of the local vintner association serve their freshly bottled wines of the new vintage – Rieslings with typical Palatinate freshness, Pinot Blanc with elegant acidity, fruity rosé wines, and sparkling wine from traditional bottle fermentation. Visitors have the opportunity to taste their way through the assortments of individual wineries and gain an overview of the stylistic spectrum of the new Freinsheim vintage.
The Blossom Festival is an official part of the Palatinate Almond Weeks – a multi-week event program along the entire German Wine Route that celebrates the almond blossom as the start of the wine season. Freinsheim, with its historic substance and its position on the Almond Trail, is a natural venue for this spring indulgence festival.
The stalls are spread across central squares and alleys of the historic old town. Between the medieval walls, in front of baroque townhouses, and in small courtyards, an intimate festival atmosphere is created, which clearly differs from the large summer fairs – quieter, more for connoisseurs, with time for conversations and tasting. Those who want to usher in the Palatinate spring in peace will find the ideal date here.
The 2026 edition continues the proven format: full operation on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 AM to 6 PM, tasting stands of Freinsheim wineries in the historic old town, accompanying program of almond specialties and Palatinate cuisine. The event is part of the Palatinate Almond Weeks from February 21 to April 6, 2026.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
At the stands of Freinsheim vintners, visitors can taste the new vintage – dry Rieslings, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, rosé wines, and sparkling wine. Tasting modalities and prices will be announced through official channels.
