Whitsun Saturday village festival at the All-Generations Square, organized by local clubs
The Kellenbach Village Festival on Pentecost is one of those festivals that truly represent the Naheland region: a small, convivial village festival, entirely supported by local clubs, celebrating the community life of a rural settlement on the Hunsrückrand. The venue is the central All-Generations Square in the heart of the municipality of Kellenbach, one of about 20 municipalities in the Kirner Land association.
The festival opens at eleven o'clock on Whitsun Saturday. The clubs are responsible for catering, program, and atmosphere – from the volunteer fire brigade and the sports club to the local heritage society. Anyone wishing to experience authentic village life in the northern district of Bad Kreuznach will find a warm welcome here.
Village festivals like the one in Kellenbach are an expression of vibrant club life in the municipalities of the Kirner Land. The volunteer fire brigade, sports club, heritage and beautification society, women's and rural women's association, marksmen, singers, and musicians all contribute together and sustain the festival. Proceeds from catering and the raffle usually go towards club projects or the village's charitable causes.
The Kellenbach All-Generations Square has been developed in recent years as an intergenerational meeting point for the municipality: play equipment for children, seating areas for seniors, a boules court, a covered area, and a stage make it the ideal festival location. On Pentecost, the area is filled with a beer tent, food stalls, and festival benches, and the program attracts visitors from the entire Hahnenbach and Simmerbach valleys.
Pentecost is traditionally considered the start of the open-air festival season in the Naheland. Numerous municipalities in the Kirner Land use the long weekend for their village festivals, funfairs, and hiking events. Kellenbach, with its Whitsun Saturday festival, is a firm part of this tradition and complements the offerings around the well-known KIRNer Beer and Backes Hike on Whit Sunday.
Kellenbach is located about eight kilometers west of Kirn, at the transition from the Nahe Valley to the Soonwald. The municipality, with around 350 inhabitants, is surrounded by forests, meadows, and small vineyard plots. Ideal for a day trip: walks, hikes on the Soonwaldsteig trail, or a detour to the nearby Schmidtburg castle ruins can be combined with a visit to the festival.
The Kellenbach Village Festival 2026 will take place on Whitsun Saturday, May 23, starting at 11 a.m. at the All-Generations Square. The festival is jointly organized by the local clubs of the municipality of Kellenbach. Admission is free, and the clubs manage catering and the program themselves.
As in previous years, the village festival is held under the motto "Clubs Together" and offers a convivial Whitsun day for families, friends, and club members from the entire Kirner Land. The exact program for 2026 will be announced by the local clubs a few weeks before the event via the event page of the VG Kirner Land.
