30-year anniversary open-air by Kapelle Petra with Sportfreunde Stiller, Madsen & more — July 25, 2026
The kAPEllE30 SOMMA is an extraordinary festival format in the city of Hamm: the annual open-air event by the indie rock band Kapelle Petra in the Kurhausgarten Bad Hamm. In 2026, the band celebrates its 30th anniversary — and turns it into what the organizers call “the biggest SOMMA ever.”
Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the Kurhausgarten Bad Hamm. The open-air event is part of the large HAMM800 festival from July 24 to 26, 2026 — celebrating the 800th anniversary of the city of Hamm. SOMMA itself marks the 2nd day of HAMM800.
The band has confirmed its guests in several phases:
This mix of stars (Sportfreunde Stiller, Madsen) and younger, up-and-coming acts (MOLA, NIKRA) creates a cross-generational festival that appeals to both 20-year-olds and 50-year-olds.
Kapelle Petra was founded in Hamm in 1995 and has since become the city's defining indie rock band. With their mix of indie rock, pop, and ironic German lyrics, they have gained national recognition — while never losing their local connection to the city. The annual SOMMA in the Kurhausgarten is their home stage.
Since its premiere in 2018, SOMMA has evolved from a pure band home game into a firm open-air highlight of the Hamm summer calendar. In 2026, the event will be even bigger by being integrated into the HAMM800 festival — the city is using the 800th anniversary to organize three days of celebration (July 24–26) centered around Kapelle Petra.
The Kurhausgarten is a classic landscape garden in Bad Hamm (a district of Hamm) — historically shaped by the brine springs that once gave the town its spa character. Today, it is a popular city park with a large festival meadow area, ideal for open-air concerts.
Sales through two channels:
Hamm, with around 180,000 inhabitants, is a medium-sized city at the transition from Westphalia to the Ruhr area, located at the entrance to the Münsterland region. In 2026, the city will celebrate its 800th anniversary with the HAMM800 festival (July 24–26) — Kapelle Petra's SOMMA is the musical highlight of the celebrations.
