Brodersby-Goltoft — two villages, one community
The municipality of Brodersby-Goltoft was formed in 2018 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Brodersby and Goltoft. Both villages are located on the Schlei, in one of the richest cultural landscapes in Northern Germany: Viking harbor Haithabu within sight, the historic town of Schleswig with Gottorf Castle and Cathedral 10 km away. With around 1,000 inhabitants in the two village areas, Brodersby-Goltoft is a typical Schlei village municipality where club life forms the social fabric.
Village festival with all clubs
The village festival follows the classic North German club festival format: each club in the municipality has its own stand, its own offering — the fire department makes bratwurst, the sports club offers a children's program, the rural women sell homemade cakes, the church community organizes an ecumenical service. A stage in the center hosts the music program: local cover bands, schlager acts, Sunday morning 'Musikfrühschoppen' (musical pint gathering).
On the Schlei
The Schlei is a sea arm of the Baltic Sea, over 40 km long — narrow, winding, tide-free. The Schlei landscape with its meadows, high banks, fishing harbors, and thatched-roof houses is considered one of the most beautiful in Northern Germany. Brodersby is located on the north side of the Schlei, overlooking the Schwansen peninsula — with sunsets included.
