Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Latin and Ibiza sound on the historic airfield with fireworks finale
Just Air is an open-air format that consciously sets itself apart from classic multi-day festivals: no overnight stays, no weekend marathon, but a single summer day from afternoon until midnight — fully focused on urban sounds and festival atmosphere. The venue is Airfield Heidelberg at Baumschulenweg 75, a historic area in the Wieblingen district, which has served as an outdoor event location for concerts, markets, and open-air events for years. The event clearly positions itself in the urban segment — Hip-Hop, R&B, Afrobeats — and is aimed at a young audience aged 18 and over.
Musically, Just Air covers a deliberately broad spectrum: Hip-Hop (US and German), Latin (Reggaeton, Latin Pop), Afrobeats (Burna Boy, Tems, Wizkid school), Afro-House (South African school), Ibiza Sound (deep, melodic), and Old School classics. The concept aims for a continuous flow of dancing from the afternoon well into the night — no rigid genre time slots, but fluid transitions. Special Acts: Swae Lee (US rapper, known for "Sunflower" with Post Malone) is announced as a prominent live guest.
Just Air's DJ pool is a cross-section of the South German urban scene: DJ Maaleek, DJ Rapture, DJ Double E, DJ Dex, and DJ G-Funk take turns at the decks, with MC Reece handling the moderation and crowd interaction. Plus surprise acts, typically announced during the day — an element of suspense that Just Air consciously cultivates.
Just Air consistently invests in staging: fire acrobatics, dance performances, chill zones with sofas and hammocks, food trucks with street food concepts (burgers, tacos, bowls, vegan). The fireworks finale around 11 PM is the highlight — synchronized with music, a conclusion that transitions the day event into memory mode. Practically important: drones are forbidden (security regulation), and a free shuttle from Heidelberg Main Station will take visitors relaxed to the airfield and back.
