Traditional wine and bridge festival of the young generation of Trittenheim vintners on Whit Sunday, May 24, 2026
Trittenheim, nestled in one of the most spectacular river bends of the Moselle and home to one of Germany's most renowned steep vineyards – the Trittenheimer Apotheke – has cultivated a strong wine culture for generations. The younger generation of local vintners has joined forces in the association „Trittenheimer Apotheker – Winzer der jungen Generation“ and organizes one of the most popular wine events on the Middle Moselle with the Jungwinzerfest on Whit Sunday.
The festival takes place under the bridges of Trittenheim – an unusual and atmospheric backdrop directly on the Moselle riverbank, protected by the bridge piers and with an unobstructed view of the river and the surrounding vineyards. It starts at 11 am on Whit Sunday, May 24, 2026. The format is deliberately accessible: no admission fee, free entry, relaxed festival atmosphere for several hours into the late afternoon and evening.
The focus is on the current vintages from the Trittenheim young vintners – Rieslings, Burgundies, and experimental cuvées, each served directly by the producer. This is complemented by live music, variety acts, and culinary stands with regional specialties. The festival is also known as the Wine and Bridge Festival with Young Vintners' Party and is a classic Pentecost destination for wine lovers from Trier, the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region, and Luxembourg.
Trittenheim itself – the birthplace of the polymath Johannes Trithemius – is located in the Trier-Saarburg district in the Schweich municipality and is part of the Roman Wine Route tourism association. The combination of first-class wine, a young generation of vintners, and an extraordinary location makes the festival one of the most characteristic Pentecost festivals on the Moselle.
The 2026 edition continues the proven format. Early arrival is recommended, as high visitor numbers are expected in good weather.
Wine glasses are usually available from the vintners' stands or as part of a deposit system.
