Water and light spectacle by the Jade Fire Brigade with lantern parade
The Jader Wasserwand is one of the most unusual open-air events on the Lower Saxony North Sea coast. The Volunteer Fire Brigade Jade has continuously developed the concept over the years: from a simple water play to a technically sophisticated spectacle that attracts guests from far and wide to the Wesermarsch. The centerpiece is a specially constructed nozzle system from which around 500 fine water jets rise. Ten spotlights, each with over a hundred LEDs, transform the fine droplets into a shimmering, constantly changing wall of colors and reflections.
The evening traditionally begins with a short service in the Trinitatiskirche Jade. Afterwards, the lantern parade sets off, with families with children participating in particular. The homemade lanterns form a long chain of lights through the village, accompanied by music and a cheerful atmosphere. Upon arrival at the destination, guests can expect the highlight of the evening: the large water wall, which shoots into the night sky and bathes the entire area in colorful light. Food stalls run by the fire brigade offer bratwurst, mulled wine, hot drinks, and sweets for the youngest visitors.
The Wasserwand is a flagship of volunteer fire brigade work in the municipality of Jade. Throughout the year, the active members work on technology, setup, and choreography. The proceeds from the festival flow back into the association's work and youth development. Thus, the Jader Wasserwand combines a cultural highlight, village community, and recognition for an institution that is indispensable in the rural Wesermarsch region.
The 2026 edition falls on the weekend around German Unity Day. This year, the Jade Fire Brigade's spectacle coincides with the long public holiday weekend and is expected to attract a particularly large number of visitors. The event follows the proven schedule of previous years: service, parade, show.
The event is aimed at guests of all generations. Children parade with homemade lanterns, while older visitors enjoy the show from the festival grounds. Hot drinks, bratwurst, and sweet snacks complete the offerings.
The official detailed program will be published by the Volunteer Fire Brigade Jade in good time before the weekend on the organizer's website. The structure of the evening follows the proven key points of previous years:
The water wall will be activated multiple times, so guests arriving late can also experience the show.
Jade is located in the Wesermarsch region between Wilhelmshaven and Brake. You can reach it via the federal road B 437 or from Oldenburg via the B 211. Parking is available in the town center and in designated fields. Those arriving from Wilhelmshaven or Varel should expect delays, as the spectacle attracts numerous guests.
The evening begins at 7:00 PM with a short service in the Trinitatiskirche Jade. The lantern parade starts at 7:30 PM. The grand water wall show is scheduled for around 8:30 PM.
Free admission. Food stalls run by the fire brigade provide hot meals and drinks. Waterproof clothing and possibly a flashlight are recommended, as the paths around the event grounds are only partially lit.
