La Dolce Vita on Kulmbach's Market Square – two days of Bella Italia in the Beer City
Kulmbach in Upper Franconia is famous for its five breweries (Mönchshof, Kulmbacher, EKU, Reichelbräu, Sandlerbräu). It is precisely here, in the Bavarian beer capital, that the Italienische Nacht has been inviting visitors to experience Dolce Vita for over ten years: two days on the market square under Italian fairy lights, with pasta, pizza, aperitivo, and Southern Italian joie de vivre.
One highlight is the Sports Car Parade on Saturday afternoon: Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, and Italian classic cars from the region roll through Kulmbach's city center to the market square. The Vespa Club Bayreuth presents its two-wheeled treasures, including numerous vintage Vespas and Lambrettas. This alone is a reason to travel for car and Vespa fans.
The evening kicks off on Friday with DJs Armin Kull and Jürgen Maisel hosting the Italo Dance Party from 6 PM – a danceable mix of Italo Schlager, Funky 80s, and modern Italo House tracks. On Saturday evening, the Pino Barone Band brings Mediterranean summer to the market square stage: Italian classics (Pavarotti, Bocelli, Eros Ramazzotti, Adriano Celentano) and modern hits in live Italian versions.
Stalls with classic Italian specialties are spread across the entire market square: handmade pasta (Spaghetti Bolognese, Tagliatelle al Tartufo, Rigatoni alla Norma), wood-fired pizza al forno, antipasti platters with Parma ham, burrata, and grilled vegetables, Aperol Spritz, Hugo, Italian wines from Tuscany, Piedmont, and Sicily, gelato, and tiramisu to finish.
The setting makes it special: Kulmbach's market square, with its Renaissance and Baroque facades, the old town hall, and St. Peter's Church, offers a breathtaking atmosphere for an Italian summer festival. Over a thousand visitors dance, eat, and drink here for two evenings – La Dolce Vita made in Upper Franconia.
On August 7 and 8, 2026, Vaganza GmbH, together with the City of Kulmbach, once again invites you to the Italienische Nacht on the market square. The 12th edition of this popular city festival follows the proven concept: Italo Dance Party on Friday, sports car parade and live concert on Saturday.
Italian fairy lights, La Dolce Vita atmosphere, pasta and pizza stands, Italian wines, Aperol Spritz, and Hugo. On stage, DJs and live bands alternate. On the market square, an exhibition of Italian sports cars and Vespas. Host Christopher Kleinschmidt will guide you through the program.
