Bielefeld — University City with Electronic Tradition

Bielefeld, the seventh-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia with around 340,000 inhabitants and the main center of Ostwestfalen-Lippe, has a surprisingly strong electronic scene: shaped by the university, the cultural centers of the city, and a vibrant underground scene around the districts of Sieker, Senne, and Brackwede. Into this environment, the collective HEXON Events has entered since 2025 with its own open-air concept — the second edition on July 18, 2026, marks the step from an insider tip to an established festival.

HEXON Open Air — Day & Night Experience

The 2026 concept is special: HEXON offers not a classic one-day festival, but a Day & Night Experience that takes place in two consecutive events — which merge seamlessly:

HEXON #2 — Day (4:00 PM)

The day program starts on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 PM and focuses on daytime-suitable electronic music: bright, melodic sounds that atmospherically fill the open-air grounds in the summer evening sun. Acts: ONLYNUMBERS (solo set) and CHRISSY JEEY (DJ set).

HEXON Festival #1 — Night (10:30 PM)

As dusk falls, the night program takes over from 10:30 PM: more powerful, darker electronic sounds that continue late into the night. Acts: ONLYNUMBERS (closing set), WILLIAM LUCK, and CHRISSY JEEY.

Those who want to experience both can combine Day and Night for a full festival day — those who only want one can choose according to their preference.

The Open-Air Grounds on Stadtheider Straße

The festival takes place on the HEXON Open-Air Grounds at Stadtheider Str. 11 in western Bielefeld. The grounds are not a classic concert venue but a temporarily used open-air area that the collective sets up for its events — with a main stage, bars, food trucks, seating areas, and an atmosphere deliberately focused on community character rather than commercial event character.

HEXON Events — The Community Behind It

The Bielefeld collective HEXON Events explicitly sees itself as a community project: "HEXON stands for more than just music. It is a community. A movement", according to its self-description. The collective organizes several editions per year — in addition to the large summer open-air double event on July 18, also HEXON Festival #3 on August 8, 2026 (3:30 PM) with acts LESSSS and FRANKY B, as well as HEXON Festival #4 on January 30, 2027 (10:30 PM) as an indoor winter edition.

Bigger Than 2025

The 2025 premiere was a first trial run — the 2026 edition is planned to be significantly larger: expanded stage technology, more acts, larger venue capacity, more professional infrastructure. HEXON Events uses this growth to become visible in the Ostwestfalen festival landscape — alongside established Bielefeld formats like Freifeld Festival or Festival Dome.

The grounds at Stadtheider Str. 11 are located in the western part of Bielefeld, in the Brackwede/Senne area. Car: A 33 exit Bielefeld-Senne, then towards Stadtheide.
