OWL's largest Oktoberfest in the Seidensticker Halle with Münchner Zwietracht
Bielefeld, the seventh-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the main center of East Westphalia-Lippe, is not exactly known as a Bavarian stronghold. However, since 1999, the city has sent a message to Munich every year at the end of October: Wiesn tradition can also be celebrated in the north. The Bielefeld Oktoberfest is now OWL's largest Oktoberfest and fills the Seidensticker Halle to the rafters for two days.
For years, the venue has been the Seidensticker Halle at Stadtholz 24-26, one of Bielefeld's central event locations. The hall is completely reconfigured: long rows of beer benches, decorated ceiling, a stage in the middle, a touch of Munich in Bielefeld. Münchner Zwietracht, promoted by the organizers as the "world's most popular Oktoberfest band", provides the soundtrack with their Wiesn-tested repertoire — from "Ein Prosit" to current chart hits and sing-along classics.
The culinary aspect is managed by Christian Nahmmacher, who, with his team from the restaurant Runkelkrug, brings the current culinary trends of the Munich Wiesn to Bielefeld. The menu features classic Bavarian dishes: Schweinshaxn (pork knuckle), Backhendl (roast chicken), Schnitzel, Hirschgulasch (venison goulash), and Kaiserschmarrn for dessert. Vegetarian options are also available. The hot kitchen is open until 10:00 PM.
The Oktoberfest operates on a table reservation system — tables for eight are the standard unit. Prices range from around €94 to €188 (Category 2) to €212 (Category 1) per table. The price includes the moBiel CombiTicket: free travel on all Bielefeld public transport lines from two hours before the start until the end of night bus service. An elegant solution that avoids the usual parking drama and makes consuming beer more carefree.
The Bielefeld Oktoberfest sees itself as a serious Wiesn adaptation — not a superficial carnival party with Lederhosen clichés. Dirndl and Lederhosen are recommended in the dress code, but not mandatory. The Wiesn etiquette is taken seriously: sharing tables is allowed and common, rows of chairs are arranged flexibly, finish your drink before going to the restroom, share snacks instead of eating individually.
The Bielefeld Oktoberfest is strictly an adult event. Admission is for ages 18 and up — not a family event, but Wiesn in adult format. Those seeking Bavarian fun in the north without traveling to Munich will find the original in Stadtholz — adapted for East Westphalian conditions.
Two evenings of Wiesn atmosphere in the heart of Bielefeld: Münchner Zwietracht plays through their Wiesn repertoire, Christian Nahmmacher's kitchen brings pork knuckle, roast chicken, and venison goulash to the Stadthalle. Tables are reserved in the online shop.
Detailed hourly schedule and admission times will be published in the online shop before the festival begins.
