The traditional spring and brewery festival in Grafing near Munich
When spring picks up speed in Grafing near Munich, the Grandauer Volksfest draws the entire region into its festival tent atmosphere. The traditional festival on the Volksfestplatz on Jahnstraße is a Pentecost, spring, and brewery festival all in one and is a fixed date in the event calendar of the Ebersberg district.
It kicks off with the festive Volksfesteinzug (festival procession) from Grafing's market square, followed by the traditional beer tapping and the first music evening. Over eleven days, a packed program follows: the traditional Grafinger Schafkopf-Meisterschaft (Schafkopf championship), the Bayrischer Abend (Bavarian Evening), a senior afternoon with brass music, a children's afternoon with Punch and Judy shows and reduced ride prices, a stone-lifting championship on Ascension Day, and a boxing evening by DJK Bavaria Rosenheim. In the festival tent, brass and party bands from the region play — from Glonner Musi to the party band 7 Promille.
The festival tent is run by Kainz'n Hof Partyservice with Grandauer Festbier and Bavarian delicacies from their own festival kitchen. A funfair with rides for young and old completes the festival. Table reservations for families and groups are possible via the festival office.
The 59th edition of the Grandauer Volksfest runs from Friday, May 8th, to Monday, May 18th, 2026 (with a final concert evening on May 19th). It opens with the festival procession from the market square and the ceremonial beer tapping by Christian Bauer.
Over eleven festival days, brass and party bands from the region will play in the festival tent with Grandauer Festbier, alongside the Schafkopf championship, Bavarian Evening, senior and children's afternoons, and Ascension Day stone-lifting and boxing evening.
