Traditional village festival on the 1st weekend of September behind the Insheim community center
The Isemer Summer is the most important village festival in the Palatinate municipality of Insheim. The name combines the Palatinate dialect pronunciation of the place name (Isem) with the English-sounding summer designation – a playful linguistic connection, typical for Palatinate festival names.
Insheim, with just under 1,800 inhabitants, is located in the Südliche Weinstraße district, south of Landau and north of Bad Bergzabern. The municipality belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Herxheim. Insheim is known beyond its region for its geothermal power plant (one of the geothermal power plants in the Upper Rhine Graben). The village is traditionally agricultural, with viticulture, fruit cultivation, and grain cultivation.
The festival traditionally runs from Friday to Sunday. Opening on Friday evening with a keg tapping and the first live acts; Saturday as the main day with a dance evening and large crowds; Sunday with a morning pint (Frühschoppen) and family afternoon. Catering is provided by local clubs – sports club, fire department, music club, and others – whose proceeds go towards club activities. Classic Palatinate specialties and Palatinate wine are on the menu, supplemented by seasonal highlights.
Like many Palatinate village festivals, the Isemer Summer has a dual significance: it is a social meeting point for the entire community – a weekend where generations, families, and clubs come together – and at the same time the economic basis for club work. The festival grounds behind the community center offer the organizational home, and Insheim's tradition shapes the atmosphere.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept of the festival. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer, the municipality of Insheim, in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
