Eggebek Book Fair — edition 2026
Date and Format 2026
The Amt Eggebek officially confirms the 3rd Eggebek Book Fair for September 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in the administrative building at Hauptstraße 2. Seven hours of programming in an administration that transforms into a literary forum for a day – a format that the book fair has maintained since its first edition.
Stands and Focus Areas
The exact list of exhibiting publishers and authors will be published by the organizer in late summer. As in previous years, expect regional publishers from Schleswig-Holstein and North Frisia, self-publishing authors, and a focus on North German literature, travel literature, crime novels, and children's books.

A Book Fair for the North
The Eggebek Book Fair is a regional book fair aimed at readers, regional and independent publishers, and self-publishing authors. The organizer is the Amt Eggebek; the fair uses the administrative building at Hauptstraße 2 as an unusual but charming exhibition space.
What Visitors Can Expect
The fair serves as a marketplace where regional publishers present their programs, authors from North Frisia and Schleswig-Flensburg sign their books, and small independent editions gain visibility that often remain in the shadow of major publishing groups in regular bookstores. Readings and discussions with the authors complement the stands.
Eggebek and Stapelholm
Eggebek is a municipality with around 2,700 inhabitants and the seat of the administrative district of the same name, which manages several smaller communities in the Schleswig-Flensburg district. The administrative building on Hauptstraße is the administrative headquarters in everyday life – on one Saturday in September, it transforms into a small town of books. For a rural municipality of this size, its own book fair is a remarkable cultural statement.
Accessible and Inviting
Unlike the major book fairs in Leipzig or Frankfurt, the Eggebek Book Fair is accessible: no admission fee, no trade visitor days, just a Saturday to stroll through the stands, browse books, chat with the authors, and – if you wish – take home a signed copy. This mix of informality and quality is precisely what defines the format.
