Season opener at Baden-Baden Racecourse — three racing days and the Grand Prix of Tattersalls
From June 4th to 7th, 2026, equestrian sports will kick off the new season at the Baden-Baden Iffezheim Racecourse. The Spring Meeting is one of the most important horse racing events in Europe and the start of a total of ten events organized by Baden-Baden Galopp in 2026 — with a total prize money of around €2.9 million.
The opening day in 2026 falls on the Corpus Christi holiday. In addition to the horse races, there will be an extensive family program with activities for children, a bouncy castle world, and the popular mascot race — a highlight for the youngest visitors, where mascots from various sponsors and clubs run across the racetrack.
A break in terms of racing, but the Breeze-up Auction and the BBAG Spring Sale will take place — the most important breeding event of the year in German horse racing.
Several races, including Group and Listed races. The highlight is one of the Group races.
The highlight of the entire meeting: the Grand Prix of Tattersalls (Group II) — 2,200 m, €70,000 prize money. 20 horses are entered, including defending champion Lordano and last year's Derby winner Hochkönig, as well as top international horses. In total, over the three racing days, there will be 27 races with 3 Group and 2 Listed races.
For the 2026 season, Baden-Baden Galopp has invested in several modernizations:
The Iffezheim Racecourse near Baden-Baden is one of the oldest and most reputable horse racing tracks in Europe. It was opened in 1858 — as a seasonal arena for the then fashionable spa town tourism. To this day, the close connection between a stay in Baden-Baden, gambling, and horse racing has been preserved. During the race days, the facility is one of the absolute hotspots of the South German sports and social scene.
Iffezheim is located in the Rastatt district, about 8 km northwest of Baden-Baden, directly on the Rhine. With the renowned spa center Baden-Baden (Caracalla Spa, Friedrichsbad, Casino Baden-Baden) and the nearby French border, the region is one of the most attractive travel destinations on the southern Upper Rhine. The race days are traditionally combined with hotel stays and casino visits in Baden-Baden.
From June 4th to 7th, 2026, the Iffezheim Racecourse will kick off its season. Three racing days over four days with a total of 27 races, including three Group and two Listed races. The Spring Meeting is the most important season opener event in German horse racing and the start of ten Baden-Baden Galopp events in 2026 with a total prize money of around €2.9 million.
The highlight is the Grand Prix of Tattersalls on Sunday — one of the most significant Group II races in Southern Germany over 2,200 meters with €70,000 prize money. 20 horses are entered, including defending champion Lordano and last year's Derby winner Hochkönig.
