Fourth competition evening of the 34th International Fireworks Competition – Team Scotland in the Herrenhäuser Gärten
The Scottish pyrotechnics scene has developed its own distinct tradition, which receives international attention in pyromusical competitions. Scottish teams often work with cultural references – Celtic music, allusions to Scottish mythology, or the geography of the Highlands. For the 4th evening in Hannover, a choreography is expected that interprets the season's motto Dance of Northern Lights in its own way.
With the fourth evening, the season's victory draws closer. The previously competing teams from Norway and Finland have already collected points, and the remaining teams from Scotland and Sweden complete the field. The final calculation will take place on the final evening in mid-September. Team Scotland needs to impress with an unusual or particularly precise choreography.
Early September offers special conditions: The sun sets earlier, allowing the main show to ignite in complete darkness; the nights are cooler, making the aerial shells appear clearer against the starry sky. At the same time, summer is still in the air, and the Great Garden shows its stylish maturity at the end of the hot season.
This evening, too, will be enhanced by a multi-hour pre-show program. Walking acts, a show stage, gastronomic stands, strolls through the park, and the gradually unfolding nocturnal park illumination will shape the hours before the main show.
With Team Scotland, the season's Northern Lights sequence of 2026 continues. Scotland is a pyrotechnics nation with a history: Edinburgh and Glasgow are among the most important pyromusical venues in Europe, and the Scottish pyro scene maintains a lively exchange with its continental competitors.
Early September brings a special light atmosphere to the Great Garden: the first signs of approaching autumn, soft evening light, long shadows cast by the hedges. In this mood, the pyromusical show unfolds its full effect.
Identical pyrotechnic infrastructure, standardized time budget. Judged by an international expert jury and public vote.
