VDP Estate Festival at Schloss Westerhaus as part of the Ingelheim Wine Estate Festivals 2026 in the Red Wine City on the Rhine
Ingelheim am Rhein has borne the epithet Red Wine City for generations. High above the city, situated on the Mainzer Berg, stands Schloss Westerhaus – a historic estate with a winery that ranks among Rheinhessen's most prestigious addresses. The family has been a member of the VDP – Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates) for generations, an alliance of Germany's elite wineries with strict quality standards in vineyard classification, yield restriction, and artisanal processing.
Over the Pentecost weekend from May 23rd to 25th, 2026, Schloss Westerhaus opens its gates for its estate festival as part of the Ingelheim Wine Estate Festivals. Three days of top-class wine in a stately setting, with panoramic views over Rheinhessen and the Rhine stretching into the Rheingau, and classic castle architecture serving as the stage for an exceptional wine festival.
The focus is on the current vintage wines from the classified sites: Pinot Noir Großes Gewächs, Riesling Großes Gewächs, Erste Lagen, Ortsweine, and Gutsweine, along with Frühburgunder, Weißburgunder, Grauburgunder, cuvées, and Sekt. The wines are served in tasting glasses, a wine token system simplifies payment, and the castle team is available to guests for questions and recommendations.
The culinary offerings are tailored to the quality of the wines: cheese platters, charcuterie, tarte flambée, regional specialties, and, depending on the season, special castle delicacies. Seating will be arranged in the castle courtyard and on the terraces, with string lights and stylish decorations enhancing the atmosphere.
The estate festival at Schloss Westerhaus is part of the Ingelheim Wine Estate Festivals 2026, a series spread over several weekends from May to August, highlighting the open courtyards of Ingelheim's wineries. Schloss Westerhaus serves as the exclusive highlight – top-class wine in a stately setting.
The 2026 edition follows the proven concept of the Ingelheim estate festivals – with the exclusive added value of VDP quality: Pinot Noir Großes Gewächs, Riesling Großes Gewächs, Erste Lagen, Ortsweine, and Gutsweine, along with Frühburgunder, Weißburgunder, and cuvées. A stately setting, panoramic views, selected culinary delights – a weekend that puts top-class wine at the center.
The exact 2026 program will be published by Weingut Schloss Westerhaus in due course. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
