Improneta positions itself in this landscape as a curated mini-festival: three performance evenings, four shows, clear thematic profiles per evening. This makes the festival compact and easily digestible for an interested audience – those who want to see all four shows can manage it in a long weekend.
Four Shows, Four Themes
The festival's hallmark is its thematic diversity. Each of the four shows brings its own concept, its own rules of play, and usually its own ensemble constellation to the stage. For example, there is a long-form story show, a musical improv show with a live musician, a genre show (e.g., film noir or sci-fi), and a format based on audience contributions. This is explicitly not a showcase format with guest appearances, but each evening has its own conceptual design.
Organization
The organizer is the association Improneta e.V., based in Berlin. The association brings together freelance improv players from several Berlin ensembles and has created a format with the festival that occupies fixed dates in the Berlin calendar. The festival is performed in German; this applies only to a limited extent for shows with close-contact or image-based formats. Tickets per show are sold separately, festival passes are rarely available – the atmosphere is reminiscent of the Berlin independent theatre scene as a whole: approachable, small, with great love for the craft.
Improneta — edition 2026
The 2026 edition follows the proven format: a compact weekend, four shows with their own profile, one to two shows per performance evening. The thematic range traditionally extends from long-form story shows to musical improv and genre shows. The appeal of the format lies in its concentration – those who want to see all four shows can do so in 72 hours.
The exact show schedules, the lineup of performing ensembles, and the venue are traditionally published in autumn. Advance ticket sales are via improneta.de and the respective theatre, with final announcements on the festival website and via visitberlin.de.
