What HYBRID is
HYBRID is an interdisciplinary performance festival that takes place at Uferstudios in Berlin-Wedding. It's not about presenting finished productions, but about exploring collaborative formats between dance, performance, sound, and technology. Seven works over three evenings, each followed by a moderated discussion session with artists and industry professionals.
The Artists 2026
The program includes Dr. Chang Gao with Affective Encounters: Body, Wonder and Machines, Aljoša Dakić with Pipestream, Sandra Bak with Black Gold II, Norbert Pape with Ways_to_Wake_Up_5_More_Minutes._clip1, Viola Yip with The Ombré of Touch, the trio Christine Bonansea / Luca Forcucci / Riccardo Castagnola with NOT(SO)HUMAN, and Sabine Ercklentz and Claudia Schmitz with INTER_SECTION #8 | SPACE:FOLDS.
Wedding and the Uferstudios
Uferstudios is located in the heart of Berlin-Wedding, in the Mitte district, on a former tram depot on Badstraße. Today, the area houses one of the most important production sites for independent dance and performance in Berlin. Studio 1, where the festival takes place, is large enough to accommodate multi-channel sound, projected images, and live performance simultaneously.
Format and Language
The festival is conducted in English. Each evening starts at 7:00 PM, lasting approximately two hours. On May 22nd, a moderated dialogue with artists will follow.
HYBRID Festival — edition 2026
Three thematic evenings exploring the space between body, machine, and collective learning. Seven artistic positions, each in short formats, followed by a joint wrap-up each evening. On the opening night (Friday, May 22nd), a moderated discussion with all participating artists. Organizers are Uferstudios in cooperation with the festival team.
