Flower Market, Farmers' Market, Medieval Market and Funfair in the Hörde District
When the first warm days sweep across the Ruhr Area, the Hörder Frühling ushers in the festival season in the Dortmund-Hörde district. From April 17th to 19th, 2026, the center of Hörde, around the iconic "Schlanke Mathilde" figure, Hermannstraße, Stiftsplatz, Rathausstraße, Friedrich-Ebert-Platz, and Alfred-Trappen-Straße, will become a three-day stage for spring enjoyment.
The concept interlocks four experience worlds that together make up the charm of the Hörder Frühling:
The Hörder Frühling starts on Friday, April 17th, 2026, at 3 PM with the traditional barrel tapping. Afterwards, the Hörder Brauverein will serve free Phoenix beer, and for 30 minutes, the amusement rides can be used for free — a popular start for families.
The district of Hörde in southern Dortmund (North Rhine-Westphalia) has a eventful history. Until 2001, the Hörder Hütte steelworks stood here — a symbol of heavy industry. Today, the Phoenix See, an artificial lake on the former blast furnace site, shapes the image of the neighborhood. The Hörder Frühling is an expression of this revival — a well-attended district festival with its own identity.
At Friedrich-Ebert-Platz, the medieval market offers free hands-on workshops for children: blacksmithing, leatherwork, and clay building are on the program. A fire-eating spectacle on Saturday evening rounds off the medieval experience.
The Hörder Frühling 2026 runs from Friday, April 17th, to Sunday, April 19th. It opens with barrel tapping at 3 PM — followed by 30 minutes of free rides on the carousels. Over the three days, markets, funfair attractions, and hands-on stations are spread across Hörde's central squares and streets.
Free admission. Rides and stalls have individual prices. Hands-on workshops at the medieval market are free.
S-Bahn line S5 to Dortmund-Hörde station (10 min from Central Station). U-Bahn line U41 to the terminus Clarenberg, then a 5-min walk. By car: A40 or B54, exit Hörde-Zentrum. Parking garages at Phoenix See.
Free admission to all areas. Rides have individual prices, hands-on workshops at the medieval market are free.
Friday 3 PM–10 PM, Saturday 11 AM–10 PM, Sunday 11 AM–7 PM. On Sunday (April 19th), there is also open shopping in Hörde from 1 PM to 6 PM.
