Hombruch Unplugged — Music in the Middle of the District
Hombruch Unplugged is Dortmund's most charming neighborhood music evening. On Friday, May 8, 2026, from 4 PM to 10 PM, five central squares and locations in the Dortmund-Hombruch district will transform into concert stages. Over 15 regional bands will play every two hours on changing stages — from indie and pop to acoustic reggae and singer-songwriter material.
Concept: Picnic Instead of Festival Grounds
Instead of a cordoned-off festival meadow, Hombruch itself is the stage. Visitors bring blankets and folding chairs, move with the music through the district, and rediscover Hombruch anew — described as an "XXL farewell picnic". Local shops remain open until 8 PM, combining the concert experience with local commerce.
Line-up 2026 — The Regional Scene on Stage
The program consciously focuses on diversity rather than uniformity. Confirmed acts for the 2026 edition:
- Hallo Johanson — Indie-Pop
- Rondoprinz — Singer-Songwriter
- Boomcoustix — Acoustic Reggae
- Blücher & Buschmann — Folk-Pop Duo
- Karlskrona — Local Indie Band
- Jaana Redflower — Singer-Songwriter
In addition, street performers like Siggi Stern as a "Living Jukebox" and the Sunshine Coconuts with Caribbean steel drum sounds, as well as the family highlight Grobilyn Marlowe with a magic and slapstick show.
Hombruch — A District with its Own Life
The district of Hombruch in southwest Dortmund (North Rhine-Westphalia) has around 33,000 inhabitants and is considered one of the liveliest districts in the city. With its own subway connection, a traditional business association, and an active neighborhood culture, Hombruch is the ideal setting for a festival that prioritizes the neighborhood character over a spectacular program.
Organized by Musiksyndikat Ruhr
Behind the program selection is Musiksyndikat Ruhr, which also acts as a curator for other Ruhr area festivals (Juicy Beats, Bochum Total). In Hombruch, it consciously emphasizes "breadth over uniformity" — a commitment to regional diversity.
