The Historischer Markt Oettingen is one of Bavaria's largest and most atmospheric medieval markets. In mid-May, the baroque Schlossstraße in the Donau-Ries district – not far from the Nördlinger Ries crater – transforms into a vibrant backdrop of past centuries. Over 100 stalls, noble knights on horseback in a tournament, craftsmen at work, camp life from various eras, as well as minstrels, jugglers, witches, and magicians shape the event. The evening 'Night of the Fools' and the 'Night of the Minstrels' with fire shows on five stages make the festival an experience for the whole family.

Getting There

Oettingen i.Bay. is located in the Donau-Ries district in Swabia. By car via the B466 or the A7 (exit towards Nördlingen/Oettingen). The market takes place centrally on Schlossstraße.

The Historischer Markt Oettingen is one of the most famous medieval markets in Southern Germany. The venue is the baroque Schlossstraße in Oettingen i.Bay., a historic town in the district of Donau-Ries in Bavaria, very close to the Nördlinger Ries, which was formed by a meteorite impact.
