Müritz Sail at the Rechlin Pier
The Müritz Sail is the grand maritime festival weekend of the Mecklenburg Lake District, taking place annually on the extended Ascension weekend at various locations around the Müritz. While Waren (Müritz) hosts the classic sailing and harbour section, Rechlin focuses on its own concept: the "Historical Müritz Sail" at the Rechlin pier.
Medieval Market and Travelling Stage
A medieval market with a stage, historical crafts, and food stalls is set up on the festival grounds at the pier. The highlight is the Cocolorus travelling stage, offering a programme for the whole family with fairy tales, acrobatics, juggling, and fire shows. In the evenings, fire art and light installations create a special atmosphere on the grounds. Folk formations like Nordan Folk and Araga Mysteria provide the musical accompaniment.
Four Days by the Water
The festival grounds are open throughout the Ascension weekend, usually from 11 am to 10 pm, with free admission. The organizer is K-Sports & Events, led by Steffen Kerfers. The location directly on the Müritz shore combines the medieval market activities with the maritime character of the region – watersports and boating are also part of the Müritz Sail.
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Mecklenburg Lake District
Rechlin is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District district on the southern shore of the Müritz. The Historical Müritz Sail complements the supra-regional festival weekend with a programme of its own profile, making Rechlin a meeting point for friends of medieval culture and lake landscapes for four days.
