Wine-hiking festival with over 100 wines and traditional 'Rebknorzenspieße' (vine-knob skewers) over an open fire in the vineyards
The Wine Panorama on the Herrenpfad is a wine-hiking festival that leads directly into the vineyards above Heuchelheim-Klingen. On June 20 and 21, 2026, the Heuchelheim vintners will serve more than 100 wines along the Herrenpfad hiking trail – with the Herrenberghütte as the central venue and the vast view of the Rhine plain as the reward.
A Palatinate specialty that characterizes this format are the traditional 'Rebknorzenspieße' – meat skewers grilled over an open fire from old vines, developing an aroma found only in the vineyards. Heuchelheim-Klingen lies on the slope of the Vorderpfalz vineyards between Landau and Bad Bergzabern and is one of the most traditional wine-growing villages in the region.
The Wine Panorama breaks with the classic wine festival choreography: instead of a central festival ground, the event is spread across the Herrenpfad hiking trail and its stations. Visitors walk from winery to winery with a glass and tasting card, sample wines directly in the vineyards, and enjoy the view of the Rhine plain along the way – a format that combines movement, enjoyment, and landscape.
The participating Heuchelheim wineries jointly present more than 100 wines. The spectrum ranges from dry Rieslings to white and Grauburgunder, as well as Spätburgunder, cuvées, rosé, and sparkling wines. Each vintner manages their own station, allowing visitors to experience the diversity of the Heuchelheim wine scene in a concentrated manner.
The culinary signature of the Wine Panorama is the 'Rebknorzenspieße'. Grilled over an open fire from old, cleared vines, the meat skewers develop a smoky, slightly sweet aroma that is closely linked to the vineyard in form and content. Palatinate breads, cheese, cold cuts, and cakes are also offered.
The Herrenberghütte is the central shelter on the hiking trail and serves as the main venue for the festival. The Herrenpfad itself is a marked wine and hiking trail that leads through the Heuchelheim vineyards, offering a wide view over the Rhine plain, the Vosges, and the nearby Palatinate Forest. If the weather is good, you can see as far as the Black Forest from the hut.
Wine hike instead of festival grounds: Visitors walk from station to station with a glass and card. Free admission, 'Rebknorzenspieße', Palatinate breads, cheese, cakes. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
