Hohen Neuendorf, on the northern edge of Berlin, has two very different Christmas market formats: The large, public Adventsmarkt am Wasserturm (Advent market at the water tower) and the small, curated Weihnachtsmärktchen (Christmas market stall) at Inselplatz 3. This Märktchen is a format for the local maker and creative scene, taking place in the rooms and courtyard of the café cavaísimo. The focus is on: handmade gifts, short distances between buyer and creator, a living room atmosphere instead of Christmas market mass crowds.

In the inner courtyard of cavaísimo, there is traditionally live music — singer-songwriters, small acoustic sets, Christmas carols from the local school choir. Accompanied by mulled wine, punch, and espresso from cavaísimo itself. The market is small enough that you can actually chat with every stallholder.

The exact date for 2026 is traditionally announced only in late autumn on the website of the town of Hohen Neuendorf. Based on experience, the Märktchen takes place in mid-December — in 2025, the date was December 13th, and the format has remained stable for years. Recommendation: check the town's website for the date shortly before the second or third Advent weekend.
