The Herforder Frühling — City Spring Festival

The Herforder Frühling is the annual spring festival with which Pro Herford GmbH (city marketing) revives Herford's city center after winter. On Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, visitors can expect a packed program of markets, mobility, family activities, music, and shopping — all in the historic city center between the Minster, St. Marien Church, and the Town Hall.

Markets — Radewiger Spring Market and Flea Market

• Radewiger Spring Market at Gänsemarkt: 45 stalls offering spring decorations, plants, and handicrafts. Plus, face painting for children and a brass band concert.
• Flea Market along Lübberstraße: Private individuals selling bric-a-brac and antiques — one of the most attractive bargain hunting spots in OWL (Ostwestfalen-Lippe) in spring.

Mobility — Auto Mile and Bike Mile

A typical Herford concept: Mobility becomes a showcase:

• 19th Herforder Auto Mile on Rathausplatz featuring over 70 vehicles from all local car dealerships — from compact cars to premium SUVs. Test seating and consultations are free.
• 2nd Bike Mile with specialist bicycle dealers, e-bike test rides, safety organizations (police, ADFC, traffic safety council), and advice on cycling mobility.

Family, Music, and Enjoyment

The program caters to the whole family:

• Spring Walk-Acts: Walk-around entertainers and costume events throughout the city center
• Children's Program at Linnenbauerplatz: Play stations, craft activities, entertainment
• Live Italian Music in the Markthalle from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM — acoustic sets, Bossa Nova, Italian classics
• Street food stalls with spring-themed specialties

Sunday Shopping

From 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, shops in Herford's city center will be open for Sunday shopping — spring heralds the new spring collection, with many boutiques, concept stores, and chain stores participating. Pro Herford coordinates and promotes the event through city media.

Herford — Hanseatic City in Ostwestfalen-Lippe

Herford (approx. 67,000 inhabitants) is the district capital of the Kreis Herford in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. The former Hanseatic city, with its Minster, Minster Square, and historic old town, provides a perfect stage for city center events. Pro Herford organizes various city festivals throughout the year — the Herforder Frühling in April, the City Kirmes in October, and the Christmas Market in December are the three main highlights.
