Autumn Kirmes in the city center with Radewiger Herbstmarkt and Sunday shopping — October 8 to 12, 2026
The Herforder City-Kirmes is one of the traditional inner-city Kirmes events in Ostwestfalen. From Thursday, October 8 to Monday, October 12, 2026, the Herford city center — Münsterplatz, Alter Markt, and adjacent streets — will transform into a five-day Kirmes world with rides, showman stalls, carousels, and gastronomic stands. The organizer is Pro Herford GmbH, the city's marketing association.
The concept is classic inner-city Kirmes:
On Sunday, October 11, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM, the Radewiger Herbstmarkt complements the program: The Radewig-Straße — one of the most beautiful shopping streets in the city center — transforms into an autumnal promenade with market stalls, pumpkin decorations, regional products, and street food.
In parallel with the Radewiger Herbstmarkt, Sunday, October 11, 2026, will feature open shops: The Herford city center stores will open their doors from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The combination of Kirmes, market, and shopping makes Sunday the highlight of the five-day event.
Herford (around 67,000 inhabitants) is the district town of the District of Herford in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. The former Hanseatic city with its impressive Minster Church, Münsterplatz, and historic old town offers the perfect backdrop for inner-city Kirmes events. Pro Herford organizes three major inner-city events throughout the year: Herforder Frühling in April, City-Kirmes in October, and Christmas Market in December.
Five days of Kirmes atmosphere in the Herford city center with rides, carousels, and gastronomic stands. Sunday, October 11, combines Kirmes, Radewiger Herbstmarkt, and open shops in the city center — the day with the most offerings.
