Four Seasons Markets as a Markt Schwaben Tradition

For years, the market town of Markt Schwaben has maintained a market with its own profile: four seasonal markets spread throughout the year — Spring Market, Summer Market, Autumn Market, and Advent Market. Each of these dates transforms the town center around Marienplatz into a market mile with a classic flea market character on a Sunday. The event series has, according to the municipality's own statement, "developed its own charm" — regular exhibitors, regular visitors, a mix of everyday goods and seasonal specialties.

What is offered at the Autumn Market

The Autumn Market in October is the largest and most culinary-rich edition of the four markets: stalls with textiles, leather goods, jewelry, tools, handicrafts, and household items are mixed with vendors of seasonal foods — porcini mushrooms, preserves, cheese, honey, liqueur, candied almonds, pressed apple juice, sausages, and snacks. In addition, there is a Sunday shopping event in the Markt Schwaben shops from 12 pm to 6 pm.

Markt Schwaben in the Ebersberg District

Markt Schwaben is located about 25 km east of Munich, on the S 2 train line to Erdinger Moos and on the road to Erdinger Land. The municipality belongs to the Ebersberg district and, with around 14,000 inhabitants, is an important commuter suburb in the southeastern Munich area. The market tradition gives the town a visible identity beyond its typical suburban function.

Event as a Mix of Tradition and Day Trip

The Autumn Market is a deliberately accessible event — it attracts families from Markt Schwaben, day-trippers from Munich (the S 2 train stops directly in town), and pensioners from the Ebersberg district. Those who combine the market with a walk through the castle park and lunch in one of Markt Schwaben's inns will have a classic Upper Bavarian Sunday outing.
