Herbstkirmes Emsdetten — Fun Fair in the City Center

The Herbstkirmes Emsdetten is one of the traditional fun fairs in the western Münsterland region. From September 4th to 6th, 2026, Emsdetten's city center will transform into a fairground — carousels, bumper cars, a Ferris wheel, and showman stalls will dominate the scene around the market square.

Classic Fair Program

The festival grounds and adjacent streets will feature the typical elements of a Westphalian town fair:

• Carousels for children and teenagers
• Bumper Cars (Autoscooter)
• Ferris Wheel offering views over the city center
• Showman Stalls — shooting gallery, ring toss, lottery stalls
• Food and Drink — Bratwurst, candied almonds, cotton candy, crêpes, currywurst, and fries

Family-Friendly

The Herbstkirmes is consciously designed as a family fun fair — the mix of children's carousels during the day and slightly more adventurous rides in the evening makes the fair accessible to all generations. Family day promotions with reduced ride prices are usually announced by the showmen.

Two Fair Dates Per Year in Emsdetten

Emsdetten hosts two major fair events per year — the Maikirmes in spring and the Herbstkirmes in early September. This dual structure is rare in the Münsterland and makes Emsdetten one of the most active fair towns in the Steinfurt district.

Emsdetten — Town Between Münster and Rheine

Emsdetten is a medium-sized town in the Steinfurt district (North Rhine-Westphalia, Münsterland) with around 36,000 inhabitants. Shaped by its tradition as a textile industry hub, it is now a modern economic center with an attractive city center. The town is located at the transition from the Münsterland to the Westphalian Plain, on the railway line between Münster and Rheine.
