Popularly called Jazzer — over 120 rides and showmen at the Halle Gartlage
When the Jazzer arrives, the city knows: the season is changing. The Herbstjahrmarkt Osnabrück, whose nickname dates back to the jazzy showman music of past decades, is one of the oldest continuously celebrated folk festivals in the region. For over ten days, from October 30 to November 8, 2026, everything at the Halle Gartlage festival grounds revolves around folk festival enjoyment and family entertainment.
The showmen bring a wide range of rides:
The Jazzer is also a culinary experience: Schmalzgebäck (fried dough pastry), candy apples, candied almonds, crêpes, bratwurst, and fries are must-tries. International food trucks complement the classic offerings.
The funfair on the Gartlage grounds has a tradition spanning centuries. Originally a horse and market fair, it has evolved over generations into a pure amusement festival. Twice a year — in spring and autumn — the market opens its gates and attracts visitors from all over Osnabrück and the surrounding area.
Many showmen offer discounted family tickets on certain days. Public transport also increases bus services during the market period, making it easy for families to travel without a car.
The Jazzer is an identity-shaping event for Osnabrück. For many, the autumn season doesn't truly begin until their first stroll through the Halle Gartlage. Showman families from all over northern Germany have been visiting the market for generations.
The 2026 autumn edition promises over 120 stalls and attractions once again. The Jazzer is a must-attend event for families, young people, and folk festival enthusiasts from far and wide around Osnabrück.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure will follow the proven framework of previous years:
