Tip
Take a three-square tour: start at Kirchplatz with Federweißer, move to Löwenplatz for waffles and wine, and end at Reyplatz with DJ Schoko and potato pancakes. Families should come on Sunday for the children's flea market at Löwenplatz. In September, it can get cool in the evenings at the Lower Rhine transition — bring a jacket.
Three Squares, Three Atmospheres, One Weekend
The Herbstfest meets Weinfest in Baesweiler (Aachen Region) is a clever concept festival: Instead of one large square, three different squares in the city center are programmed differently — each with its own character, stage, and culinary program structure. The next edition will take place from September 26th to 27th, 2026, organized by the Gewerbeverband Baesweiler.
Kirchplatz — Main Stage with Restaurateurs
Kirchplatz is the heart of the festival. Local restaurateurs present their specialties here: wine, Federweißer (freshly fermented grape must, classically autumnal), Aperol, a cheese selection, and a pasta stand. The square is equipped with tables and chairs — a place to linger, taste, and chat. Saturday evening highlight: DJ Oldschool Club party with hits from the 70s and 80s, accompanied by a light show.
Löwenplatz — Small Wine Festival
Wine and Sweets
Löwenplatz is the quieter sibling — a small, intimate wine festival with selected wines, accompanied by homemade waffles, fresh cakes, pretzels, and white sausages grilled by Schlachter Lowis.
Live Music and Family Program
Guitarist Dirk Kraforst performs acoustic sets that pair well with wine and cake. On Sunday afternoon (1 PM–6 PM), a children's flea market takes place on the square — toys, books, and children's clothing from and for families from Baesweiler.
Reyplatz — DJ Schoko and Street Food
On Reyplatz, three wine merchants offer their selection, alongside classic street food: fries, potato pancakes (Reibekuchen), and crêpes. Musical anchor: DJ Schoko plays sets with hits from the 90s and 2000s on both days.
Sunday Shopping and Autumn Fair
On Sunday from 1 PM–6 PM, Baesweiler shops open for Sunday shopping — autumn and winter fashion, books, toys, cosmetics. Additionally, a separate autumn fair with rides takes place on the fire station parking lot, planned as a complementary family program.
Baesweiler and the Aachen Region
Baesweiler is a medium-sized town with about 27,000 inhabitants in the Aachen Region (North Rhine-Westphalia), north of Aachen at the border with Belgium and the Netherlands. Characterized by its former coal mining history (Carl Alexander mine). Since the structural changes of the 1980s, Baesweiler has reinvented itself — with the Gewerbeverband as a central driver of local initiatives. The Herbstfest meets Weinfest is one of these initiatives, connecting city life with enjoyment and conviviality.
