About Hennefer Weinfest

Four days of wine culture in the heart of Hennef (Sieg): Over the Pentecost weekend, the market square transforms into a wine garden from May 22nd to 25th, 2026, featuring vintners from Rheinhessen, Mosel, Ahr, Nahe, and Pfalz. Highlight region: the Mayschoß winegrowers' cooperative, the oldest in the world. Six wineries offer bookable wine tastings for €5. Accompanied by Flammkuchen, cheese platters, hearty snacks, and live music in a relaxed atmosphere — one of the most beautiful wine events in the Sieg-Bonn region, with easy access to train and bus.

Hennef — at the Gateway to the Bergisches Land

The town of Hennef (Sieg), with around 50,000 inhabitants in the Rhein-Sieg district, North Rhine-Westphalia, is located on the Sieg river between Bonn and Siegburg. With its compact city center around the market square, an active business association, and S-Bahn connections, it is an attractive venue for open-air festivals. The Hennefer Weinfest is the highlight of the early summer season here.

Four Days Over the Pentecost Weekend

In 2026, the Hennefer Weinfest runs from Friday, May 22nd, to Whit Monday, May 25th. Four days of wine service right in the middle of town, with opening hours Friday 3 PM–12 AM, Saturday 12 PM–12 AM, Sunday 12 PM–10 PM, and Whit Monday 12 PM–6 PM (according to city sources, or 8 PM according to the organizer). Decorated seating areas, long tables, beer benches under umbrellas — the atmosphere deliberately emphasizes meeting and lingering rather than a quick walkthrough.

Wine Regions from All Over Germany

In 2026, vintners from Rheinhessen, Mosel, Ahr, Nahe, and the Pfalz (with a distinctly Palatinate winery newly added) will be represented. A special highlight is the participation of the Mayschoß winegrowers' cooperative on the Ahr — the oldest winegrowers' cooperative in the world, founded in 1868, and gradually rebuilt since the flood disaster of 2021. In addition, several well-known houses will be present, including Knierim, Klosheim, Eckes, Götz, Lentes, and Weller-Lehnert.

Six Bookable Wine Tastings

A special feature of the Hennefer Weinfest is the bookable wine tastings: Six of the participating wineries offer guided wine tastings, each at a flat rate of €5 per person. Registration in advance or on-site. This allows for a structured introduction to grape varieties, vineyard sites, and styles, rather than just tasting by the glass. Recommended for novice wine drinkers, but also for comparative tastings.

Flammkuchen, Cheese, Food Truck

The wines are accompanied culinarily by Flammkuchen, cheese platters, and hearty snacks from a food truck. Sweets are also offered; Chipsgourmet provides handmade chips. In addition, smaller beer, cocktail, and spritz stations, as well as non-alcoholic beverages, are available — those who don't drink wine are not excluded.

Hennef in Early Summer

The timing over the Pentecost weekend makes the Hennefer Weinfest one of the first major open-air events of the season in the southern Rhein-Sieg district. Combined with the Sieg nature region — the Sieg cycle path runs directly through Hennef — and the direct S-Bahn connection to Bonn and Cologne, the festival is an attractive destination for day-trippers from the Rhineland as well.
