Hennef's largest city festival

The Hennefer Stadtfest mit Kirmes is the largest event in the city of Hennef, with around 200 stalls and thousands of visitors per day. Three days of city festival and two stages merge with a multi-day funfair to create a complete festival weekend. The 2026 edition runs from Friday, September 18, to Sunday, September 20, 2026 — the funfair on Marktplatz and Heiligenstädter Platz is even open until Tuesday, September 22.

900 meters of festival mile on Frankfurter Straße

The festival grounds extend over 900 meters of the central Frankfurter Straße — Hennef's main shopping street. Around 200 stalls offer:

• Gastronomy from Hennef and the surrounding area
• International specialties
• Arts and crafts and gifts
• Club stands from Hennef associations
• Fashion and accessories
• Cocktail bars and beer stands

Two stages with live music

The musical program is spread across two stages:

• Main stage — Cover bands and top regional acts
• Market stage — DJs, Schlager music, and interactive programs
• Performances over three days, mainly from noon until late evening

The barrel tapping on Saturday

A central element is the traditional barrel tapping by the mayor on Saturday, September 20, at 3:15 PM — the official mayoral ritual with which the Hennefer Stadtfest celebrates its folk festival tradition. The audience gathers in front of the stage, and with the first strike, the first beer of the festival flows.

Funfair on Marktplatz and Heiligenstädter Platz

Parallel to the city festival program on Frankfurter Straße, the Kirmes (funfair) takes place on Marktplatz and Heiligenstädter Platz. It opens on Friday and runs until September 22 — Family Day on Tuesday with special prices on rides. Classic funfair offerings with carousels, a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, shooting galleries, and snack stands.

Hennef in the Rhein-Sieg district

Hennef (Sieg) is a city with around 48,000 inhabitants in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia, located southeast of Bonn on the Sieg river. With the city festival, Hennef positions itself as a regional festival center in the southern Rhein-Sieg district — the festival attracts visitors from the entire Siegtal valley as well as from Bonn, Siegburg, Sankt Augustin, and Königswinter.
