Automotive Time Travel in the Bergisches Land
Heiligenhaus is located between the Ruhr area and the Bergisches Land — a city with an industrial heritage (locks, keys) and proximity to numerous classic car clubs. The Oldtimer meeting in the city center leverages this location: Over 300 historic vehicles, from pre-war classics to younger modern classics (at least 30 years old), gather on the Hauptstraße for a one-day showcase.
Hauptstraße as an Open-Air Stage
From 10 a.m., owners will present their lovingly restored vehicles along the Hauptstraße and on adjacent squares. Mercedes Pagodas, BMW 02 Series, old Beetles, Opel Mantas, American cars, motorcycles — the spectrum spans across automotive history. Chatting about cars, exchanging memories, attracting potential buyers.
Sunday Shopping
Concurrently, Heiligenhaus city center shops will open their doors from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. — a Sunday shopping event that the City Marketing Trade Working Group integrates with the Oldtimer meeting. Window shopping, special offers, and outdoor dining complement the automotive program. A bicycle tour by Weiße Flotte Mülheim also integrates the meeting as a culinary stop.
Mettmann District and the Bergisches Land
Heiligenhaus belongs to the Mettmann district in the Düsseldorf administrative region and has around 26,000 inhabitants. The city borders Velbert, Ratingen, and Essen, making it a focal point for day-trippers from the Ruhr area. The Bergisches Land, with its winding roads, has been a favorite territory for the classic car scene for decades — an ideal environment for such a meeting.
Family-Friendly and Free
Free admission for visitors. Those wishing to exhibit a historic vehicle should register in advance with the City Marketing. Dogs welcome. Food and drink stands provide culinary catering.
