One of Germany's Most Beautiful Regatta Courses
The Dove-Elbe Regatta Course in Allermöhe is one of the few full 2000-meter courses in Germany. On the calm Dove-Elbe, a side arm of the Elbe in the Vier- und Marschlande region, lane races can be held under Olympic conditions — a privilege that gives Hamburg rowing associations access to top-class competitions.
North German Championships
The Hamburg Rowing Regatta is not just a local club regatta — the North German Championships are held simultaneously in most classes. Rowers from Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Bremen, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern meet on the Dove-Elbe for a weekend to determine their state champions. The Hamburg Regatta is a must-attend event for ambitious rowing clubs.
Disciplines — from Singles to Eights
All classic rowing boat classes compete over 2000 meters:
- Singles (1-) and Double Sculls (2x)
- Coxless Fours (4-) and Quadruple Sculls (4x)
- Eights (8+) — the premier class
- In addition, sprint competitions over 900 meters for certain classes
Organizers and Organisation
The main organizers are the Allgemeiner Alster-Club and the Norddeutscher Ruderer-Bund, in cooperation with the Hamburg State Rowing Association (LRV). Entries are processed through the German Rowing Federation's entry portal; club entries close about ten days before the competition.
What Spectators Can Experience
The regatta is accessible to spectators free of charge. The course can be reached via Allermöher Deich 36; a free shuttle bus runs from the Mittlerer Landweg S-Bahn station on regatta days. Food and drinks are offered on-site — a pleasant weekend for families who want to spend a day by the water without rowing themselves. The intense concentration of the athletes on the waterline, the boats gliding by in precise rhythm, the course set in the North German marsh landscape — a specific, quiet sporting culture.
