A Young City Festival with Character
The Hänicher Stadtfest is a relatively young event – the first edition took place in 2023, and the third edition («3.0») in 2025 from August 22nd to 24th. The organizer is the city of Gräfenhainichen in the Wittenberg district. Despite its short history, the festival has established itself in the region: it attracts visitors from Gräfenhainichen itself, the surrounding Dübener Heide, and the Goitzsche region in Anhalt-Bitterfeld.
Gutenbergplatz and City Center
The venue is Gutenbergplatz in the middle of the city and the surrounding area. The creative market, stage, club mile, and showmen (Wieser, a well-known address in Central Germany) are spread across the squares. In previous years, the stage program featured, among others, the party band Tänzchentee – the same band is also a regular guest on city festival stages in Gommern and elsewhere in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Free admission.
Gräfenhainichen — The Lightbulb City
Gräfenhainichen was known for decades as the Lightbulb City (NARVA factory) and is now the gateway to the Goitzsche lake landscape and the industrial monument Ferropolis – «City of Iron» – on the nearby peninsula. Visitors to the city festival can easily combine their stay with a visit to Ferropolis (stage for Splash!, MELT!, and WHOLE Festival). The city is located in the Wittenberg district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
Hänicher Stadtfest — edition 2026
The 4th edition of the Hänicher Stadtfest will continue the series established in 2023 in 2026. The exact date is usually published by the city administration in spring via Facebook and the event page – the festival typically takes place in the last third of August.
The program follows the proven format: Friday evening opening with beer tapping and the first stage program, Saturday the main festival day with the creative market, club mile, city olympiad, and a live band in the evening, Sunday family program and winding down.

Getting There
By train to Gräfenhainichen (Halle – Dessau – Wittenberg line), 10 min. walk to Gutenbergplatz. By car via the A9 (Dessau-Ost exit) or the B100. Parking available in the city center.
Admission & Times
Free admission. Date for 2026: probably August (announced by the city in spring). Three festival days Friday–Sunday, main concert Saturday evening.
Families & Dogs
Family-friendly, creative market and Wieser carousels for children. Dogs on a leash are welcome, though rather impractical in crowded festival areas.
