Four-day wine tavern with wine hike and all-day wine experience at the Summerloch winery
Gut Philippshof in Sommerloch is one of the prominent players in the Nahe region's season opening. For four days – from Thursday to Sunday – the winery transforms into an open meeting place for wine lovers with a courtyard bar, the "Weck, Worscht und Wein" (Bread, Sausage, and Wine) wine hike, and an all-day wine experience on Saturday. The focus is on Nahe wines from their own production, regional specialties, and the family atmosphere of the Eckes family's winery.
Sommerloch is located in the northern Naheland on the edge of the Soonwald, nestled in a landscape of forests, meadows, and small vineyard sites. With the season opening, Gut Philippshof intensely opens its doors for the season – a four-day program that goes far beyond a classic tasting.
Gut Philippshof is managed by the Eckes wine-growing family and stands for handcrafted Nahe wines with a distinct character. Riesling, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc are the main grape varieties, complemented by sparkling wine and special selections. The winery is a member of the Weinland Nahe initiative and regularly participates in joint regional events.
Thursday starts in the evening from 5 PM to 10 PM with the open wine bar – the season is opened with a first glass. On Friday, the wine bar is open from 11 AM to 9 PM, and in the afternoon from 2 PM to 6 PM, there's the "Weck, Worscht und Wein" wine hike (€29) – a guided hike with food stops in the Sommerloch vineyards. Saturday brings the all-day wine experience (€78): tasting, cellar tour, snacks, vineyard walk, and a final tasting. Sunday concludes with the wine bar open again from 11 AM to 9 PM.
The combination of "Weck" (bread roll), "Worscht" (sausage), and wine is a classic of Palatinate and Nahe culinary culture, representing unpretentious, hearty enjoyment. The wine hike of the same name brings this tradition to the vineyard: at several stops, wine, bread, and sausage are served, while the vintner explains the vineyard sites, grape varieties, and the terroir of Sommerloch.
The all-day wine experience on Saturday is aimed at wine lovers who want to immerse themselves deeply in the world of a Nahe winery. Over several hours, the vintner guides guests through the vineyard, cellar, and vinotheque, explaining the craft of winemaking from harvest to bottling, and concluding with an extensive tasting of top wines. The experience is limited to a certain number of participants; advance registration is required.
