The barbecue of the Linau Volunteer Fire Brigade is one of the village's central summer social events. At the fire station, the Linau Volunteer Fire Brigade invites the entire village community for a summer evening with grilled specialities, cold beer, and conversations. As with many village fire brigade festivals, the event combines socialising, fundraising (support for the association), and recognition of volunteers. In the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg, where almost every municipality has its own brigade, such festivals are a firm fixture in the summer calendar.

Summer Evening with the Brigade

On August 29, 2026, from 3:00 PM, the Linau Volunteer Fire Brigade invites the entire village community to the traditional barbecue at the fire station. As in previous years, the festival features grilled specialities (sausages, pork neck steaks, chicken legs), salads, cold beer and soft drinks, and exchanges between brigade members, association members, and villagers.

By car: A24 Hamburg–Berlin, exit Talkau, then country road to Linau. By train: Schwarzenbek or Trittau station, then bus.

Linau in the District of Herzogtum Lauenburg

Linau is a small municipality with around 750 inhabitants in the District of Herzogtum Lauenburg (Schleswig-Holstein), east of Hamburg between Trittau and Schwarzenbek. The municipality is predominantly rural and agricultural; many Linau residents commute to Hamburg. The fire brigade, the shooting club, a vintage car club, and smaller sports and cultural associations form the village's community life.
