Stubben: A Small Community in Lauenburg

Stubben is a municipality in the district of Herzogtum Lauenburg in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, located east of Hamburg. With only around 400 inhabitants, Stubben is one of the smaller communities in the region — and it is precisely for this reason that the Dorf- und Kinderfest holds a special significance here: it's a meeting place not only for the residents of Stubben but also for guests from surrounding villages and families from the greater Hamburg area.

A June Classic

The festival traditionally takes place in June, shortly before the summer holidays in Schleswig-Holstein, allowing the end of the school year to be celebrated together by the children. The venue is the central village square with the adjacent community meadow — an ideal location for stalls, game stations, a stage, and open-air catering.

Program for the Whole Family

For years, the Dorf- und Kinderfest has followed the same successful concept: in the mornings, game stations for children (sack races, egg-and-spoon races, tin can alley, target throwing), in the afternoons, a small tombola, performances by Stubben's local clubs (fire department, sports club, rural women's association), and in the evening, a cozy get-together with live music or a DJ. Food includes grilled items, salads, and homemade cakes.
