White Wine Night @ Van Volxem

The 'White Wine Night' is one of the most elegant summer wine events in the Saar region, hosted by Weingut Van Volxem in Serrig. The 2026 date falls on Saturday, July 25. The event brings together two elements that are exceptional in themselves: an internationally renowned winery with one of Germany's most spectacular wine architectures, and the cool, mineral Saar Rieslings, considered style icons of German white wine.

Weingut Van Volxem, consistently repositioned by Roman Niewodniczanski since the early 2000s, has brought the Saar back into international awareness as a wine-growing region. The vineyards of Saarsteiner, Schodener Saarfeilser, Wiltinger Gottesfuß, Scharzhofberger, Volz, or Geisberg produce Rieslings that, in every respect, claim to be among the world's best white wines – with a high slate character, salinity, fruit, and elegance. The winery building, completed in 2018 and situated above the Saar with sweeping views of the vineyards, is also an architectural highlight.

Compared to traditional wine festivals, the White Wine Night is a more upscale, intimately curated format. The focus is on the tasting of current Van Volxem wines – both estate wines and the single-vineyard Große Gewächse and Reserves – in a summer open-air atmosphere on the banks of the Saar. The event is typically accompanied by music, culinary offerings tailored to the wines, and an atmosphere that puts enjoyment at the center.

The event aligns with the younger generation of wine lifestyle formats along the Saar, Mosel, and Ruwer rivers, through which the region is also attracting younger and urban target groups.
