Four days of open-air music festival on Pentecost in the Alter Stadtpark — Free admission
Leichlingen, located on the edge of the Bergisches Land between Leverkusen and Solingen, proudly bears the nickname Blütenstadt (City of Blossoms) — the fruit orchards around the town bloom in white and pink every May, making it a popular destination. Precisely at the peak of this season, on the Pentecost weekend, the Grammo Musik Festival has been held since 2008: four days of open-air concerts in the Alter Stadtpark, organized by the local GrammoEvents.
The structure has been refined over the years: opening on Friday evening, full day program Saturday through Whit Monday, daily start at 2:00 PM, and concerts late into the night. The main stage in the Alter Stadtpark dominates the event, complemented by smaller stages and dance floors. The stages feature regional bands and musicians from the Bergisches Land, the Rhineland, and North Rhine-Westphalia — ranging from cover bands and rock/funk ensembles to singer-songwriter acts and tribute projects.
What sets the Grammo apart is its explicit family orientation. While many open-air festivals target the 18-35 age group, Grammo is a cross-generational format. Children's attractions — bouncy castles, carousels, interactive stations, face painting — form a dedicated area; alongside these, there are barbecue stands, cocktail bars, and a large beer garden. Families bring picnic blankets during the day, while teenagers and adults gather in front of the main stage in the evening. Admission is free on all four days.
With over 1,275 interested individuals on Allevents.in alone and a reach extending into neighboring major cities, Grammo is one of the most important free open-airs in the Bergisches Land. Supported by local gastronomy and sponsorship from Leichlingen businesses, rather than large government grants, the festival has cultivated a loyal base of regular attendees. With its 18th edition in 2026, the festival marks a generational shift — many who first came to Grammo as children are now parents themselves, bringing their own children.
Leichlingen is situated on the border of the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia — geographically at the point where the Rhineland transitions into the Bergisches Land. This blend also influences the festival: Kölsch (Cologne dialect/style) in the music, Bergisch in the setting, and typically NRW in its down-to-earth atmosphere. Those seeking an authentic experience of the Rhineland-Bergisch folk culture, without the mass events of big cities, will find it here.
The 18th Grammo Musik Festival will take place from Friday, May 22, 2026, to Whit Monday, May 25, 2026, in Leichlingen's Alter Stadtpark. The organizer is GrammoEvents. Admission is free on all four days.
Daily program starting at 2:00 PM, multiple stages, a dedicated children's area, barbecue stands, cocktail bar, and beer garden. The stage hosts live acts from the Bergisches Land, the Rhineland, and all of North Rhine-Westphalia annually.
The complete band lineup for 2026 will be published by GrammoEvents in the weeks leading up to Pentecost on grammoevents.de and on social media channels. The program structure follows this annual pattern:
The bands for the 18th edition will be announced successively on grammoevents.de, Facebook, and Instagram @grammoevents starting April 2026.
Free admission on all four days. Payment on-site: Beer 0.3 l approx. €4, Cocktails €8–10, Bratwurst €4, Fries €3.50, Steak sandwich approx. €8. Children's attractions partly free, partly with small fees.
By Car: A3, exit Leverkusen-Opladen or A1 Burscheid, then B229. Public Transport: S6/S7 to Leichlingen Bahnhof, then a 10-minute walk to Alter Stadtpark. Recommendation: Travel by train, as parking in the town center is scarce.
Free admission on all four days. Food and drinks available at stands and in the beer garden.
The event takes place in all weather conditions. There are covered areas in the Stadtpark.
