Since 2006, the Gothic Pogo Festival has been the central hub for the international Deathrock, Postpunk, and Electropunk scene in Germany. The 19th edition will take place from May 21st to 25th, 2026, at the Kulturfabrik WERK 2 in Leipzig-Connewitz — one of Saxony's most renowned alternative cultural centers. Over five days, in two halls (Hall D and Hall A), 24 bands from around the world will perform; in addition, there will be party areas, DJ sets, and the characteristic «Shock Wave Marathon» on Sunday. Maximum capacity: 750 guests per day — this ensures an intimate atmosphere, which has also made the festival an insider tip internationally.

Festival Structure 2026

The festival has its own dramaturgical line: Thursday is the Warm Up in Hall D with bands like Vince Mnemonic and Cyberpagan; Friday features two parallel events — the concerts «Ba✝ Habi✝s» in Hall D (incl. Lifeless Past, Batboner) and Club Solitaire in Hall A (DJs LVLVN and Jules Ennoir); Saturday is again dual with «Glowing in the Dark» (Parole E Azioni, Larsovitch, Dramachine) and «Present of the Future» (Devils Dancers); Sunday hosts the legendary Shock Wave Marathon with IVUR, HEUTE Präzisionsmusik, and Medio Mutante; Monday is the grand finale «Catacomb Kittens vs. Bruits de la Cave».

Style and Scene

The musical spectrum ranges from classic Deathrock (Christian Death school) through dark Postpunk (Joy Division heritage) to Minimal Wave and Electropunk. The audience is international: guests travel from Belgium, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the USA. The WERK 2 venue — a converted industrial hall of the former Buntgarnwerke — perfectly matches the scene's aesthetic DNA: raw, industrial, urban. The organizers emphasize: «A good time for all people, in a free space where they can celebrate together peacefully, respectfully and above all with joy.»

Saxony, Leipzig, and Connewitz

Leipzig is the largest city in Saxony (approx. 600,000 inhabitants, independent city) and, after Berlin, one of the most important centers for alternative subcultures in Germany. The Connewitz district in southern Leipzig has been a focal point for the left-wing and alternative scene for decades — with cultural centers, record stores, clubs, and bars that cultivate its self-image as an «autonomous city district». The WERK 2 — Kulturfabrik at Kochstraße 132 — is a central hub here. The Gothic Pogo Festival forms a Saxon bridge between the alternative Leipzig scene and international Goth subculture.
