Carnival Sunday with Frühschoppen and parade in the Eifel village of the Bitburger Land municipality
The Gondorf Karneval uses Carnival Sunday, February 15, 2026, for an all-day carnival celebration. Punctually at 11:11 AM, the carnival festival opens at the festival hall with Frühschoppen (morning pint), catering, and musical accompaniment. At 2:11 PM, the parade sets off through the village streets — floats, walking groups, and music bands from the Bitburger Land municipality pass by a cheering audience. A classic, village-driven Eifel carnival day.
Gondorf, a village in the Eifel region in the Bitburg-Prüm district, celebrates its Karneval as a community festival for all generations.
The Gondorf Karneval follows a format popular in the Eifel: the celebration begins as early as Sunday morning. At 11:11 AM — the magical time in Karneval — the carnival festival opens at the festival hall with Frühschoppen. Catering with hearty Eifel specialties such as stew, pretzels, and beer, as well as musical accompaniment, ensure the right atmosphere before the parade starts.
The carnival Frühschoppen on Sunday has a long tradition in the Eifel and Rhineland. It offers an opportunity to fortify oneself before the parade, meet costumed acquaintances, and get in the mood for the main event in a convivial setting. Families with children are also invited, as the format is less boisterous than later sessions or evening hall events.
Punctually at 2:11 PM, the parade sets off at the entrance to the village. Carnival floats with local and current political motifs, dance troupes, walking groups with themed costumes, and music bands from the Bitburg-Prüm district form the procession. The route leads through the main street to the festival hall, where the event concludes with further catering.
As in many Eifel villages, the floats are created through months of volunteer work. Club members meet regularly from autumn onwards to build and decorate the floats. This work is not only preparation for the parade but also an important aspect of club community life that resonates throughout the year.
After the parade, the carnival community celebrates in the festival hall with catering, live music, dance troupe performances, and dancing. The Eifel Fastnacht is celebrated late into the evening.
The Gondorf Karneval 2026 makes Carnival Sunday, February 15, an all-day carnival celebration. Already at 11:11 AM, the carnival festival begins at the festival hall with Frühschoppen and catering. At 2:11 PM, the parade sets off through the village streets — floats, walking groups, and music bands from the Bitburger Land municipality pass by a festive audience. Afterwards, a carnival wind-down in the festival hall with dancing and live music until late in the evening.
The dual format of Frühschoppen and parade on the same day is a pragmatic and convivial solution that appeals to families and all generations. The Gondorf Carnival Club organizes both program points with its usual care and club work.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in January. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
